Back to school with Mr. Collina

Hello Guest, for this annual Eurovita top management team meeting in Bratislava, we have decided to invite Mr. Pierluigi Collina as our guest of honour.

Not only an example of great international referee, but also a charismatic speaker. We are not simply referring to his exceptional curriculum vitae which includes 240 matches in the A league, over 100 international games, the Olympic games, Uefa Cup, Champions and World Cup finals. All these events have made him be worthy of the title of World’s Best Referee for six consecutive years between 1998 and 2003.

There is more than that.

We have discovered with great pleasure that Mr. Collina is capable of amusing hundreds of managers talking about the principles of effective decision making both on the soccer field and in the management of a company.

Mr. Collina’s speech in Bratislava gave us a unique insight into his refereeing experience, something preciously meaningful for anyone who is thinking about undertaking a career in management.

Having an experience as referee at any level, from minor leagues to international matches, is something to highlight in one’s curriculum vitae, as much as having attended a decision making course in one of the top business schools in the world.

Mr. Collina demonstrated such a statement by entertaining an audience of top managers in the insurance and banking field for over two hours.

“Refereeing is an experience that forces you to work on yourself and on the team. Being able to take a quick decision in complex and diverse situations calls for a lot of discipline. The art of effective decision making requires humbleness and the willpower to learn from your own mistakes. You cannot consider yourself invincible. Taking decisions means that you have to deal with other people, holding up to your integrity and independence. On a soccer field, in a Board of Directors, at a bank office”.

Mr. Collina has been giving a masterful lesson in Bratislava to all of us who try to develop our decision making abilities day by day. We all thank you.
